The Toogoom Lost Tree I have to tell you a story about the Toogoom lost tree.. I am always losing things, for a smart person i can be really daft. Do not ask me where my keys are or my wallet because I have no clue where I put them. The biggest lose though is my glasses.. It is a family joke and my most popular sentence "where are my glasses" My daughter Kiralea Swan always says she is going to put tracking devices on them. A few months back I lost them and had no clue where, so I...

Kangaroos Of Toogoom

Kangaroos Of Toogoom Photo shoots starring the kangaroos of Toogoom. These kangaroos, in times past were to be found basking in front yards and skipping across roads, even swimming on the beach of Toogoom at dusk and dawn. Human intervention and housing growth have decimated the population, whose numbers have decreased and that decrease is increasing as more and more of their habitat is destroyed by man as human made housing structures are built. Now every so often a fresh kangaroo carcass appears at the side of our Toogoom roads and injured kangaroos are often taken to rescue centres or...

Do You Believe in Santa Claus I remember being a little lass all those many years ago decorating the Christmas tree and hanging up the mistletoe The sounds of bells takes me back to a place of childhood pleasure through the halls of time I go with memories I will always treasure The smell of fresh baked gingerbread would waft all throughout the place and the roast was in the oven that would soon disappear without a trace Everywhere was Christmas with joy spread all around decorations and festive lights would adorn the whole downtown Carolers would sing their songs...

The First Toogoom School Bus 1947

The First Toogoom School Bus 1947 In 1947 a group of Toogoom residents banded together to establish a Toogoom school bus run to Torbanlea school. Previously the children had to learn by correspondence at Toogoom. The first contractor was a local Toogoom man and the bus was a small 10 seater 1.5 Ton truck. It had a canvas rear and bench seat on both sides. The road in 1947 was not of great condition compared to now so the children would arrive at school covered with dust in the dry weather. In the wet weather the road was often impassable...
